2025-26 School Closings Update

As of today, we have used five calamity days for the 2025-2026 school year. If we reach a sixth calamity day or beyond this school year, we will first refer to the board-approved 2025-2026 school calendar to see if there are any scheduled days remaining that are designated to make up for in-person instruction. The calendar shows one pre-scheduled make-up day for in-person instruction; March 20th (Third Quarter Break).

If a sixth calamity day comes after March 20th, it will be made up with an online learning day. Students will complete their instruction and assignments online. One of the biggest benefits of using this approach is that it will eliminate school days getting added to the end of the school year, during a time when families have vacations already planned. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Mr. Best at 659-2639.

Thank You, CG Bus Drivers!

This winter has been challenging with the snow, ice, cold temperatures, and fog. We greatly appreciate the efforts of our bus drivers who have to navigate these challenging conditions. Our drivers keep safety at the forefront of their duties and make sure our students arrive safely to and from school daily! CG regular route drivers are Deanna Ricker, Shelly Schroeder, Linda Ridenour, Janel Hardeman, Mike Fanaff, Brad Anderson, Bill Heilman, Chad McCluer, Jeff Gertsen, Pete Langhals, and Stephanie Ricker.

National School Breakfast Week

CGLS will be celebrating National School Breakfast Week, March 2-6, 2026. This year's theme is "The Quest for School Breakfast". We have planned dress up days for the week:

Monday- Wear Orange
Tuesday- Dress like a Prince/Princess
Wednesday- Wear a Wacky Hat
Thursday- Wear Sunglasses
Friday- Wear your Bulldog Gear

There will be new food items each morning with activity and coloring sheets available during breakfast. The kids can complete the sheets at home and return them the following day at breakfast for the chance to win a prize. This should be a fun and exciting week to help ensure students start their day off right with a healthy, nutritious breakfast.

The dates for screening will be April 16th and 17th. Documents needed are a birth certificate, immunization records and/or Kindergarten boosters, parent ID, proof of residency (if new to the district and no other siblings attend CG schools) and custody papers if applicable.

Basketball League Champs

Congratulations to Coach Schroeder and the girls’ basketball team on winning both the NWC and the PCL this season. This year’s team has done an outstanding job building on the success of last year’s state championship team. They secured a victory in their opening-round tournament game last night against LCC and are now preparing for District competition. Best of luck as they continue their postseason run.

Additionally, congratulations to Coach Kohls and the boys’ basketball team on winning the PCL. This marks the first time since 2020 that our boys’ program has claimed the PCL title. The team will conclude the regular season tonight against Allen East before turning its focus to tournament play.
