Students in grades 7–12 at Columbus Grove Local Schools are supported through the ABC’s framework:
A – Academics, B – Building Your Bulldog Brand, and C – Career & College Readiness.
This approach helps students build strong academic foundations, develop positive character and school connectedness, and plan for life beyond graduation.
Students engage in Source of Strength (SOS) peer leadership initiatives, participate in College Credit Plus courses with guidance from the district liaison, and follow graduation plans with support from the School Counselor. Career exploration begins in 7th grade through individualized YouScience accounts, and students develop skills aligned with the Ohio Means Jobs 14 Professional Skills to support future career readiness.
Students receive guidance in planning for Enrollment, Enlistment, and Employment, and take part in programs that promote a positive school culture, including the PAWS Incentive Program and Sources of Strength Wellness Program. Support is also provided for district End-of-Course tests, ACT preparation, scholarships, and transcript review.
When students see a dog in the building, that is Leo McDreamy Losh, a certified therapy dog through Pet Partners, who helps students feel safe, supported, and welcomed throughout the school day.
A Pathways Mental Health Counselor is available weekly for students who need additional support beyond what school counseling services can provide.
Support areas for students include:
Academic planning and graduation requirements
Course selection (grades 7,8,11,12) and scheduling
College Credit Plus advising
Transition planning (middle school to high school, high school to postsecondary)
YouScience career assessments
Career exploration and future planning
Social-emotional support and stress management
Peer relationships and school connectedness
Mental wellness and resilience building

Handle with Care
We understand that students sometimes experience difficult or stressful situations outside of school. These experiences can impact their focus, behavior, and emotional well-being during the school day.
If your child comes to school after a challenging experience, you may email or message me through ParentSquare with the phrase:
“Handle with Care.”
I will respond to confirm that I received your message—no questions asked. This allows us to provide your child with extra patience, understanding, and support throughout the day. When appropriate, I may also notify your child’s teacher(s) so they can offer additional grace and flexibility.
Your child’s well-being is our priority, and we are here to partner with you in supporting them.
