January is School Board Appreciation Month!

Columbus Grove Local Schools is proud to celebrate School Board Appreciation Month this January. Columbus Grove Schools would like to formally recognize and thank our Board of Education for its unwavering commitment to our students and our district. Our Board consistently demonstrates a student-centered approach and makes thoughtful, well-informed decisions that are in the best interest of Columbus Grove.

We extend a sincere thank you to our dedicated Board members for their service: Brian Jones (President), Ned Stechschulte (Vice President), Mindy Troyer, Kevin Schumacher, and Jon Diller. Their commitment to our students, staff, and community ensures that Columbus Grove Local Schools continues to thrive. Thank you for all you do!

Thank You, CG Bus Drivers!

This winter has already been challenging with the snow, cold temperatures, and even some fog. We greatly appreciate the efforts of our bus drivers who navigate these challenging conditions. Our drivers keep safety at the forefront of their duties and make sure our students arrive safely to and from school daily! CG regular route drivers are Deanna Ricker, Shelly Schroeder, Linda Ridenour, Janel Hardeman, Mike Fanaff, Brad Anderson, Bill Heilman, Chad McCluer, Jeff Gertsen, Pete Langhals, and Stephanie Ricker.

Regular School Board Meeting Dates & Times Set for 2026

At the January Reorganizational meeting this past Monday, the Columbus Grove Board of Education established the regular meeting dates and times for 2026.  The Board of Education will meet on the third Monday of every month at 8:00 p.m. in the high school library.  If you have any questions, please contact the Superintendent’s office at 659-2639.

College Credit Plus Parent and Student Meeting Scheduled

Columbus Grove High School will be holding our College Credit Plus night for any students entering grades 7-12 in the 2026-2027 school year who are planning to take CCP classes next school year.

This meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 7:00 PM in the Commons and is an annual meeting for any student who plans to take a college credit plus class next year, whether in our building, off campus or online. This includes classes on our campus - Spanish IV, Statistics, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Biology, Psychology, Computer Apps in the Workplace, Contemporary Business, Introductory Financial Accounting, Principle of Finance and Principle of Management. All participants should complete this Google Form so Mrs. Losh can plan accordingly and have enough materials for all students/parents. Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Losh in the high school counseling office at cg_losh@cg.noacsc.org or by calling 419-659-4310.

2025-26 School Closings Update

As of last Thursday’s cancellation, we now have used three calamity days for the 2025-26 school year, leaving us with two more school closings before having to make up additional calamity days.  As we did last year, if we reach a sixth calamity day or beyond this school year, we will first refer to the board-approved 2025-26 school calendar to see if there are any scheduled days remaining that are designated to make up for in-person instruction. These pre-scheduled make-up days for in-person instruction are February 16 (Presidents Day), and March 20 (Third quarter break). If we reach a sixth calamity day after these dates, we will make these days up via virtual school days of instruction, with students completing their instruction and assignments online.

One of the biggest benefits of using this approach is that it will eliminate school days getting added to the end of the school year, during a time when families have vacations already planned.  Hopefully, we will not get to a sixth calamity day or beyond this school year, but we wanted to make you aware of this process in the event it occurs.  If you have any questions about this process, please contact Mr. Best at 659-2639.

Bus Drivers Wanted

Columbus Grove Local Schools is accepting applications for substitute bus drivers. This position has the potential of becoming a full-time bus driver in the future, if applicants are interested. Substitute bus drivers are contacted to drive extracurricular field trips and occasionally drive a regular morning or afternoon route. Certification requires the completion of attending a pre-service class, a written and driving test, CDL license, a medical physical exam, drug test, BMV check of driving record, and a background check. Cost for training will be reimbursed by the district for any individuals who serve as a substitute bus driver for Columbus Grove Local Schools. If you are interested in becoming a bus driver for Columbus Grove School, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at 659-2639 for further information.
