Leo Club Hosts Activity to Benefit Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP)

Last week, the Leo Club hosted a fundraiser in which high school staff and students played bingo to raise money for the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program. Students and staff were able to purchase bingo cards for $1 and bingo numbers were called each day of the week. Many thanks go to our Leo Club members and Advisor Kim Birnesser for hosting a fun activity for the school while benefiting a very worthwhile program in Putnam County. We raised $372 to donate to CAP.

A Big Thank You to Our Outstanding School Nurse!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and skilled school nurse like Katie Zimmerly serving our Columbus Grove Schools community. In the first quarter alone, she has provided essential care and support with nearly 800 student visits for injury, illness, or pain. In addition, she has handled over 200 diabetic management visits and administered over 500 medication passes. Her commitment to the health and well-being of our students and staff is truly invaluable. Thank you, Katie, for your hard work, care, and professionalism in making sure Columbus Grove is a safe and healthy place for all!

Bulldog Athletic Success Continues!

Congratulations to the Columbus Grove Boys’ Cross-Country team for an incredible 2025 season, finishing as Runner-Up at the OHSAA State Cross Country Meet. Also, congratulations to the Columbus Grove Girls’ Cross-Country team for qualifying for the OHSAA State Cross Country Meet and finishing 16th. Thank you to Coach Schnipke and Coach Martz for leading these runners to a very successful season.

The Football Bulldogs take on Gibsonburg tonight at 7 p.m. at Clymer Stadium. If the Bulldogs are successful, they will advance to play the winner of LCC and Edon at a neutral site in the next round. Good luck to Coach Schafer and the players!

CG Band Earns a Superior

Congratulations to Mr. Lozer, Mr. Dubler and the CG Marching Band for earning a Superior rating at last weekends OMEA State Band Competition. This is the highest rating a band can earn at the competition. This was a great way to end a season that started in the August heat on the concrete of the student parking lot.

Thank the Village Workers and CGVFD

While it is a longstanding tradition of the Columbus Grove Volunteer Fire Department to escort our school extra-curricular groups back into town after a successful season, we do want to express our appreciation to these volunteers for giving their time to do this. On many occasions, the times that our teams come back into town are not ideal, yet the CGVFD always responds and has a couple trucks waiting for them at the edge of town. Also, we want to say thanks to our village workers, who do a great job of clean up after these celebrations. We are grateful for the continuous support we receive from the community, especially these two groups who give their own personal time to give our kids a wonderful experience!

Purchasing Tickets for Post Season Tournaments

Bulldog fans are reminded that all tournament events for our fall teams will accept cash at the gate. Passes issued by the Columbus Grove athletic department cannot be accepted for OHSAA-sponsored tournament events. Please note that ticket prices for tournament games are set by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, not the Columbus Grove Athletic Department.
