This week has been a special one for the Bulldog Football program as it leads up to Military Night at tonight’s home football game versus Crestview. The first two nights of the week were very workout-intensive for our players. On Monday, members of the Ohio National Guard led the team through a “Boot Camp” workout. On Tuesday, the team went through a “Murph” cross-fit workout. Many CrossFit-affiliated gyms, military members, veterans, and civilians participate in the “Murph” every year to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. This workout consists of a mile run, 300 air squats, 200 push-ups, 100 pull-ups, and concludes with another mile run.
Thursday, the players had their team meal at the VFW with the color guard. Former alum and retired Sergeant Major Justin Lehew was the special guest speaker. Mrs. Ricker’s Art class will have their work displayed in chalk around Clymer Stadium. Make sure to check it out, the students did a great job.
Tonight’s game will include guests from the Ohio National Guard. The Bulldogs will play in their new military jerseys, with the name of a veteran they are honoring on the back nameplate of their jersey. Thank you to the Columbus Grove VFW who purchased these special jerseys for our football team!
Public Address Announcer Nick Gilgenbach will read every player’s name on our roster, along with the name of the veteran he is honoring on the back of his jersey. Below is a tentative timeline for pre-game events:
· 6:45 - Announcer talks about the game, and introduces names of honored service members.
· 6:50 - Choir sings (God Bless America)
· 6:54 - Color Guard Salute followed by National Anthem
· 6:57 - National Guard Tunnel
· 7:00 - Kick off
Please join us as we honor our military tonight at Clymer Stadium.
