Spotlight Athlete of the Week 1/16

Spotlight Athlete: Lydia Sarka
Congratulations to Lydia Sarka, this week’s Spotlight Athlete, recognized for her outstanding performance on the basketball court!
Lydia is a post player for the Bulldogs and has been playing basketball since she was in third grade. Over the years, she has developed into a strong presence in the paint, using her size, strength, and instincts to make an impact on both ends of the floor.
Outside of basketball, Lydia stays extremely busy. She is involved in track, volleyball, Leo Club, and student council, proving she is not only a dedicated athlete but also an active leader in the school community.
Lydia’s favorite part of basketball isn’t just the competition—it’s the memories made with her teammates, especially messing around and playing games on long bus rides. Those moments help build the strong team chemistry that fuels success on the court.
Individually, Lydia has set high goals for herself, including reaching 1,000 career points and setting school records. As a team, her goal is clear: to make a long tournament run and compete at the highest level possible.
A fun fact about Lydia? She used to have bangs!
The Bulldogs are fortunate to have Lydia’s talent, leadership, and dedication, and we look forward to seeing all she continues to accomplish this season.
