Spotlight Athlete: Claire Koch
Claire Koch has been a dedicated member of the Columbus Grove Cross Country team for seven years, running since fourth grade. Over her years with the Bulldogs, Claire has achieved an impressive personal record of 21:06 and recently qualified for state with her team, showcasing her commitment and talent on the course.
Outside of cross country, Claire stays busy with basketball cheer, track, Leo Club, and serving as class secretary. When asked what she enjoys most about running, Claire didn’t hesitate: “The team and all the fun we have.” Her personal goal is to make it onto the all-time record board, while her team goal is to compete at their best at state.
A fun fact about Claire is that she enjoys scrapbooking, proving she can balance both athletic and creative pursuits.
Spotlight Athlete: Holden Hartzog
Holden Hartzog, a senior for the Columbus Grove Bulldogs boys cross country team, has had an impressive season, highlighted by a 5th-place finish at the 2025 Bulldog Invitational and earning 2nd place individually at the 2025 NWC Cross Country Championships. Thanks to the team’s strong performances this season, Holden and the Bulldogs have qualified for the state meet this weekend, aiming to make a deep run.
Holden’s dedication and consistency make him a key contributor to the Bulldogs’ success. With personal goals of lowering his times and team goals of competing strongly at state, Holden is ready to help lead Columbus Grove on the biggest stage of the season.
