Spotlight Athlete of the Week 9/26

Spotlight Athlete: Gage Sautter
Columbus Grove’s own Gage Sautter has been making waves on the golf course over the past three years as a member of the Bulldog Golf Team. One of his proudest achievements came when he broke the 18-hole school record and earned First Team NWC and PCL honors for two consecutive years.
In addition to golf, Gage stays busy as a three-sport athlete, also competing in basketball and baseball, while being actively involved in Leo Club and Student Council.
Looking ahead, Gage has set ambitious goals for himself and his team. This year, he hopes to qualify for state, while setting his sights on earning Player of the Year honors in the NWC and PCL next season. He’s also determined to help lead his teammates to a district appearance along the way.
Outside of golf, Gage shared a fun fact: he has trained with Rece Verhoff to become a football kicker. Whether on the course, court, or field, his dedication and competitive spirit shine through.
Spotlight Athlete: Erianne Heffner
Erianne Heffner has established herself as a standout goalie for the Bulldogs’ soccer team. Her hard work and determination have paid off, as she recently broke the single-season saves record with 108 and also set the new mark for most career saves.
When she’s not on the field, Erianne stays involved in softball and Leo Club, balancing her time between sports and school activities. Her favorite part about soccer is the bond she shares with her teammates and the excitement of celebrating wins together.
Erianne has set big goals for both herself and her team. Personally, she’s proud to have broken records, but she continues to push forward, while for the team, she hopes to help lead the Bulldogs to NWC, PCL, and district titles.
A fun fact about her soccer journey is that she actually started out as a midfielder before moving to goalie—a switch that’s clearly paid off. Looking ahead, Erianne plans to major in athletic training and pursue a career as an athletic trainer after high school.
