Spotlight Athlete of the Week 9/5

Athlete Spotlight: Michael King
This week’s Spotlight Athlete is Michael King, a dedicated multi-sport athlete who shines both on and off the course.
Michael has been playing golf since his freshman year, and his hard work has already paid off. Most recently, he earned Honorable Mention in the Northwest Conference, a recognition that highlights his consistent play and commitment to improving his game.
When he’s not on the golf course, Michael stays busy with baseball and CYO basketball, showing his versatility and passion for athletics. What he enjoys most about golf, though, is spending time with his teammates and shooting good scores.
Michael sets high standards for himself and his team. Personally, his goal is to earn league and conference honors in the PCL and NWC. As for the team, he’s determined to help them secure a Northwest Conference title and to make it out of sectionals.
Outside of sports, Michael has a love for watching college football, something he enjoys when he’s not on the golf course. As a senior, Michael’s goal is to enter the GROB apprenticeship program after graduation.
With his dedication, drive, and team-first attitude, Michael King is not only a standout athlete but also a great representative of his school and community.
Athlete Spotlight: Sarah Kamphaus
This week’s Spotlight Athlete is Sarah Kamphaus, a standout runner and leader for her cross country team.
Sarah has been passionate about running from a young age. She started as a cross country manager in 6th grade, officially joined the team in 7th, and hasn’t looked back since. Her dedication has led to an impressive season so far, including a 6th place finish at the Upper Sandusky Meet, a 10th place finish at the Centerville Night Lights race with a time of 20:20, and an 11th place finish at the Grove Invite.
When she’s not racing, Sarah is deeply involved in school and community activities. She participates in Basketball Cheer, Track, Leo Club, Student Council as Class Treasurer, National Honor Society, Youth Group, and 4-H. Her favorite part of cross country is the satisfaction of placing well and hitting new personal records.
Sarah has set ambitious goals for herself this season — she’s working toward qualifying for the State meet and running in the mid-18 to low-19 minute range. As for her team, she hopes they can win both the NWC and District titles and advance to State as a group.
Looking ahead, Sarah plans to continue running at the collegiate level, majoring in exercise physiology with a minor in business.
With her drive, competitive spirit, and commitment to excellence both on the course and in the classroom, Sarah Kamphaus is a true role model and an athlete to watch.
